Growing agency Pulse Creative Marketing are looking for employers or self employed people in the North East’s creative industries to take part in market research, potentially benefiting from funding opportunities as a result.

The research is being conducted on behalf of Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD), who are looking to develop a range of courses for employers and freelancers from creative industries.

Melanie Shee, Business Development Manager for the Creative Industries, says: “At present the college has an excellent reputation in providing specialist art and design training for students. We are now looking to extend this and provide training for businesses and employers in the region.

“The research that is being conducted by Pulse will allow us to gather feedback directly from the people that we are hoping will benefit from these services, and allow us to  design and market training based on their expectations. As a result of taking part they may be eligible to access funding aimed at employers in the region which will allow us to develop provision to suit their needs.”

In order to gather information for the college, Pulse Creative Marketing, based in Sunderland, are already working with representatives of SMEs across the region, including Catherine Burns of Bordello Bordello.

Catherine launched the business in late 2007 with two partners. It comprises a production company, which stages burlesque-themed events, a modelling agency and a costume & clothing design arm. Catherine is hoping to develop the latter with the assistance of Cleveland College through developing training.

Catherine Burns said: “When you are developing a business, the best kind of training is that which is relative to your commercial needs. It is refreshing to be offered the chance to have a say in which provisions are to be made available as well as being able to offer advice on how best to market training provision to the creative industries. We were delighted to find that the college are developing a course on corsetry, which is ideal for our needs.”

Karen Forster, Marketing Executive at Pulse Creative, says: “This is an excellent opportunity for businesses in the creative sector to have their say and possibly shape the provision they will be able to key into from a world-renowned specialist college.

“We’re encouraging any employers or self-employed people who work in the region’s creative industries to get in touch and become involved.”

If you work in the creative sector and would like to take part in the focus group (17th March) or survey please register your interest by contacting Karen at Pulse Creative Marketing on tel: 0191 516 6071 or email karen@pulsecreativemarketing.co.uk
