Celebrating one year of networking
Business professionals from across the region attended the event, which featured guest speaker Rob Lawson, Editor from The Sunderland Echo.
Since its launch last year, Sunderland Business Network has continued to grow and is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to interact, promote their services, share advice and ideas with one another. With over 130 businesses attending, the evening was a fantastic success and also saw SQR Cleaning Services congratulated as the 100th member joining on the evening. Business Club Co-ordinator Jessica Trotman said: “We are delighted to be celebrating one year of supporting the business community through networking. Our birthday event was the perfect opportunity for new businesses and individuals to come and see what Sunderland Business Network has to offer and for our existing members to celebrate what we have achieved so far.
This year has been a great success, our membership levels have proved that we have a vibrant business community in Sunderland that are supportive of one another. The network has enabled our members to expand their network of contacts and receive advice from leading individuals from our business community. This has been particularly helpful to small businesses who are feeling the effects of the current economic climate.” Sunderland Business Network provides local businesses with the opportunity to come together on a monthly basis to network in a relaxed environment with like-minded business professionals. Guest speakers from a wide range of business disciplines continue to share their knowledge and experience and provide advice to members during the meetings. Chairman, Paul Sturgess said: “Since joining the network I have seen the benefits that membership can bring for individuals and businesses. Sunderland Business Network provides a relaxed way to make valuable business contacts, which can lead to new business opportunities. As Chairman my aim is to develop the SBN membership to achieve a level that will ensure self sufficiency going forward and that all those who join feel that they are not just joining a work group but are becoming a part of a working / social network something that is not always experienced in very small / micro / owner managed organisations.
We are delighted to have the support of Rob Lawson, Editor of the Sunderland Echo who was guest speaker for the evening. It was also fantastic to see so many businesses displaying business stands at the event and networking with other businesses.” Sunderland Business Network is part of Business Clubs North East Ltd (BCNE), made up of 8 constituent clubs across the region. Being part of the network gives businesses access to over 800 potential business contacts.
